Week One!

Chris Pickering of Blue Ledge (in dark blue) looks out over the excavation work

Back in February, when the board began deciding when we would break ground, we figured that it would be a ceremonial event. That we would be able to say “we broke ground!” but that the timing wouldn’t line up with Blue Ledge, or with Astbury’s schedule. But sometimes, the stars align.

After leaving the library on Saturday afternoon with my son on my hip, I turned off my email notifications, and enjoyed a rainy Sunday. On Monday I checked my email and nothing seemed out of the ordinary. Just a quick message that “they were starting” and my naivete of the building world did not prepare me for the work that was accomplished on Monday.

From my office window I can see the excavators, and as I look out at the stakes and piles of dirt, I am excited to imagine what it’ll look like in the future. On a rather gray day in May it’s hard to see it all come together, and when it’s all done it’ll feel like it’s been there for years. But That’s why we’ll be updating you weekly (if not more). Making sure you’ve got an insiders view of the project. We are so excited to start building, and we hope you’ll come see us soon!
